My Cesarean Scar

My scar hurts
My scar sometimes itches
My scar gives me a pouch
My scar means I won't wear a bikini
My scar is unsightly
My scar is a constant reminder
My scar annoys me
*****
My scar marks the exit route of my son
My scar is my Mum "stripe"
My scar means Aaron chose exit route 2 when exit route 1 wasn't an option
My scar means we both got through it
My scar means I had access to medical help
My scar means I was brave
My scar was the beginning of my recovery
My scar is part of who I now am

  1. I really like this post. My son is nearly three so I haven't thought about my scar in ages. It's not what keeps me out of bikinis (that's my rolls of lard!). When my son is older I will show him my scar with pride.

  2. I have 3 c-section scars although obviously it is one now and by all accounts its very neat so says the lady that does my bikini line. I wore a bikini as documented in my blog (I'm size 16). It doesn't feature in my thoughts or prevents me from doing anything. I neither like it or dislike it. It is what it is x

  3. I saw this in the nav bar and had to click on it as I've had 2 c-sections now. They were both planned though so maybe that's why I haven't had any side effects and it's very low down so doesn't show in a bikini (not that I wear one - now there's a scary thought).
    Really lovely comparative post.

  4. Just wanted to say that I thought this was a lovely post. I never had a C-section so have no idea how I would feel about the scar but I loved this piece, especially the line about you both surviving the delivery and that it is now part of who you are.
