Horsie Horsie Don't You Stop

Yesterday we went on a lovely long walk with Sandra.

Aaron walked for a total of 4 hours non-stop - he has so much stamina.

And I risked going buggy free and it was fine.

We went to see the horses which Aaron loves:

It was hot yesterday, despite it being September and we had a lovely day.

We even took in the slides and swings - well a two year old won't let you walk passed them without a visit.

The highlight of the day was Aaron finishing an Ice Cream Van cone for the first time every but boy did he look funny while eating it:

Today is hot but I couldn't think of anything to do.  Staying in has made me gutted as we haven't spent a day indoors since June.....

We might go for a walk this evening as I have cabin fever.

I walked to school

Whilst lots of boys and girls may be going back to school today, for Aaron it's a little different.

First of all he is only two years old.

Secondly his nursery only closed for 2 weeks during the summer, but he is only there Tuesdays Wednesdays and Thursdays anyhow.

Today he insisted on walking to "school".

It is the FIRST TIME I have dared leave the house without the buggy.

We have had our trusty reins since Christmas, but as Aaron had previously refused to wear them, they were not used and I always opted for the buggy despite him being a strong walker and runner.

Well, when we went to Brighton we could only possibly do it with reins as there would be a bus, tube and train, (plus the pier & beach) to cope with there and back.  Safety was paramount.  Because his precious cousin (only 2 boys out of 6 cousins) was holding the reins, it was a positive experience for him and he is now happy to use them, and even happy now if Mum is holding them.  What a result and what a step forward (forgive the pun).

So I'll share some pics with you. The reins we use are here.  I paid full price for them in Babies R Us, in store.  No discount - this is NOT a sponsored post.

The reins are invaluable to me, as the risk of him running in the road is just too high.

First Day loving the reins, when we went to Brighton (this is on the pier)

Yesterday in Alexandra Palace (walk down from Little Dinosaurs) - loving the reins

Today letting Mummy walk him to "school"

Now I am Two

Each time motherhood throws us a challenge, as a first time mum, we can be heard saying

"nobody prepared me for.....
pregnancy
childbirth
breastfeeding
teething!"
and so it continues...

But then a new day dawns - they are less reliant on you, but there's a new challenge.

Now they are TWO! 2 years' old! And a boy!

Did anyone prepare me? No!

It is a battle for your control versus their independence.

Both of these videos were recorded today.

The first is simply me wanting Aaron to eat a bowl of fruit, where he decides he only wants to drink the juice.

Yeah, being two involves them making decisions and enjoying seeing them through.

The second video is cute, in my humble opinion.

2 Years Old on a Tricycle but Not Yet ready to Pedal

Anyone else's tot ride a bike like this.

Aaron doesn't yet have the coordination or leg strength to pedal.

Seems to be like learning to crawl/walk all over again.

I'd be interested to hear your stories, as I have never seen this way of riding before.  Have you?
