The Sun is Shining

Hi

Looking back in future years I want to remember that it was hot hot hot hot hot yesterday.  It was as hot or hotter than Malaga and the holiday island of Rhodes. Hottest day of the year so far.  Some fab photos here.

We left home at 1130 (quite late as we got up at 930) and were at Jenny's by 12:50.  We were visiting her and Edward on the way to my Aunt's house.

Aaron spent the whole bus journey in the pushchair, which is saying something as I'd normally need to take him out and put him in the wrap.  At one point he got a bit grizzly so I gave him a toy - happy! Then next time, gave him an Organix rice cracker, which always works - happy!

Edward and Aaron played together very well, with Edward putting the rings on a stalk that Aaron was holding.  They seemed happy holding half of the toy each and were both more vocal than normal like they were chatting to each other.

Well just like our sitting room was like an oven before we left, theirs was too, and even though I thought it was something that I'd come out without a jacket, I even had to take my cardi off.

This is a picture Jenny took for us, which shows Aaron on her armchair.  So sweet to see him sitting up by himself - it's still a novelty for me.

Only shame was that when we went to my Aunt's we didn't think to go in her garden.  By the time I suggested it, the sun had gone round the wrong side of the garden.

But it was lovely to see her holding Aaron etc... we had a lovely day.

Only trouble was, Aaron missed his morning nap, and when we put him down for his afternoon nap, he only slept for 35 minutes.  I thought it would mean he'd go to bed early but it was 11 p.m. when I got him to sleeep... no wonder we got up at 930 today.... Someone once told me "sleep promotes sleep" and I think it's true, because he goes to bed earlier when he has his proper naps.

Not sure what we'll do today.  Still hot, but overcast.

It's a shame that we've gone back to our usual of getting up at 930 (today = 3rd day in a row), as the last couple of weeks we'd been getting up at 730 which I was glad about as I wanted to prepare Aaron for me going back to work.

Stunned and Sleep

Hi,

For anyone who has read my regular "sleep" posts.... when he slept, when he didn't and when he did again... you'll know we've always been a late to bed late to rise house...

Well the other day... Valentine's Day actually... Aaron got up at 8 and so did I.  I thought *super* he will go to bed early and me and DH can have our first evening together in 8 months, and how appropriate on Valentine's Day.  Well if memory serves me right, DH went to bed at about 11:15 p.m. as he was to be up for work at 5 a.m. and me and baby went to bed at midnight :-(

But wonders will never cease, last night Aaron was asleep at 8:30 p.m. and slept till 8 a.m. this morning.  Am I going to join all the other Mothers, who have a 8 till 8 baby???? I think it is too soon to dare to hope but it WOULD change my life!!!  I would have an evening where I could have some leisure, or more importantly, catch up on the housework.

Aaron and I normally spend every waking hour together, but if I became an 8 till 8 Mum, wow, that would be wonderful, and with how sunny it is in the morning nowadays, I think it may just happen... I think the bright mornings wake Aaron up.  We have lined curtains but they are not blackout.

Because this 8 till 8 malarchy is totally new to me, when he fell asleep breastfeeding on my knee last night, I thought it was a nap, so I typed one-handed on the internet thinking he will wake after 30-40 minutes.... Got till 10:30 and he was still asleep, so I put him in the cot and he DIDN'T wake  :-0

I went to bed at 11:30, thinking I was shattered BUT I was still awake at 12:30, mind far too alert.  Oh and then when I started to get sleepy my nose was all congested... so I went and tried his Sterimar baby that we got free at a PR event this week.  Squirted it up my nose, and I am telling you, even though it wasn't even the adult version, it was the equivalent of TUNES for the nose... remember the old advert "breathe more easily' well I DID and I then went to sleep.

Sadly, because Aaron had got to sleep a few hours earlier than normal, he hadn't yet had his nighttime bottle, and I didn't want to wake him to do a dreamfeed so he woke at 3 a.m. and I hadn't been asleep that long so I felt like a zombie.  I got up, gave him a bottle and he was still *hyper*.  I then brought him into the bed and breastfed him to sleep.  That compromises the space in the bed so I slept uncomfortably until he woke at 8.  Luckily husband is off today so he got up with him and I slept till 9:30.

Do I dare hope I have a 8 a.m. till 8 p.m. sleeper..... THAT would be like a Lottery Win, and would be an ideal framework to set us up for Mum going back to work.

Sorry there's no photo in this post, which is very unlike me.  I will edit the post later with a photo if I can think of something appropriate.

Bye for now, Liska

Disturbed sleep once again...

Aaron swaddled asleep in the hotel travel cot September.

Hey America (my stats tell me alot of my readers are from there).   :-)

To anyone reading, "hello" I am in the UK, and thanks for stopping by... If you are so inclined, please leave a comment...

So again we were up in the night... from 4:30 to 6:30.... but we then slept till 11.  Breastfed him from 4:30 to 5 in our bed... he was then in a deep sleep so transferred him to cot... even through the sleeping bag his back could feel the cot was colder than our bed so he woke immediately... so off to the sitting room where I breastfed him from 5-6 - he continuously sucked but was dozing... Bottle at 6 and bed by 6:30

So it is a few nights since we've both slept through.

I have so much to do for my Mum coming I would rather have a good night's sleep and get up earlier.

Then when we got up at 11, I breastfed him for over 30 minutes and then gave him his usual 180 ml bottle... he only drunk 90 ml, and then loads of what he did drink, came back up... so either (a) what he had in the night had him still full OR (b) he got a good amount from the breastfeed, but I never quite know how much he gets :-(

The joys of combination feeding.

I am going to try and stay off this computer today as there is just too much to do with Mum on the way and Christmas round the corner. And this blog is getting toooooo addictive...
