The Gallery - Boys

The prompt over at Sticky Fingers for this week is Boys, for The Gallery.

This couldn't be more perfect given that we spent all day Monday out.  A family day.  Me and my boys.

Husband on the bike.  Aaron on the scooter.  Aaron had NEVER seen his Dad on his bike before, so it was a massive novelty for him.  We both have bikes but haven't been out on them since he was born.

We did not come home until the sun set.  It was a classic case of red sky at night, shepherds' delight.

We were all very hungry and all three of us had very cold hands when we got in, but it had been very sunny and glorious before it turned cold.  Not as hot as today was, mind you (as shown in my blog post earlier today).

So here are some snaps of my BOYS

They were all taken this Monday (18th February 2013).

The only wheels I had were the buggy that I was pushing.

The Gallery - I am Proud of ME

Hi

The prompt for this week's Gallery is "Something I am Proud Of".

Instead of being witty or clever I am going to post THE FIRST thing that IMMEDIATELY sprung to mind.

I was SCARED of labour - I mean REALLY scared.... It has a name and it is tokophobia. I had it so bad I would not let myself get pregnant.

In my old jobs when I was in my 20s, when talking to a pregnant lady, even if she was only 4 months pregnant I would ask her, aren't you worried about labour and I'd be astounded if she wasn't - I couldn't envisage that you may get scared in week 30 something - to me, you should feel scared from the moment of conception or in my case WELL before.....

And I often spoke to pregnant ladies - after all I was in the HR Department and wrote The Working Family Guide - how ironic.

Myself and hubby have been together since 1988..... yes 23 long years and if it wasn't for this fear we could have had babies years ago.

BUT I had a astrological reading a few short years ago and the Brahmin who did it knew that I did not have kids and he said if you do not fall pregnant before November this year, you will have to wait a year.

EVEN though he said that, I did not start trying when I got back from the yoga festival. We started the following year April 2009 and I KNEW that it would take 5 or 6 months due to his comment and it did.

He'd never met me, I'd been married for years and yet he knew I did not yet have children, so as irrational and unhelpful as my fear was, it was written in the stars so I will not berate myself for it.

What I will say though is that I am proud, I am REALLY proud that I got over this fear and got pregnant and didn't even feel scared as the labour loomed nearer, and I ended up having what I feared the most a C section (I am even more terrified of needles and that meant having a spinal block injection in the spine).

So this photo reminds me that the SOMETHING I have to be proud of is ME getting through labour, and look how very happy I am about it:

The Gallery - I am Grateful For

Hi

This week's theme at the Gallery is I am Grateful For...

I am going to blog about what first springs to mind when hearing this week's theme.

It is the fact that on Monday my Mother In Law came over to ours with my nieces and nephews. Up until now, whenever we visit her, more often than not, Aaron cries and there is no explanation for it...

But Monday we had a wonderful day, where Aaron shared his toys happily with his cousins and he seemed to love having them over and didn't mind one bit that they played with his toys.

When it came to dinner time, my MIL fed him in his high chair and they had so so so much fun giggling etc... which warmed me to the bottom of my heart.

So it must be true, the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, even if he is 11 months old.

We always visit her and she hasn't visited us since October which I think has been an error as Aaron had no problem getting on well with her on his own turf.

Anyway it was a wonderful day and I cooked for all of them, which was like a teddy bears' picnic but I really enjoyed it.

So in line with the Gallery, here's the snap of Aaron enjoying his Granny, with me also enjoying the scene from behind the camera :-)

Bye for now

Tomorrow

Hi,

When everyone is busy posting their Sticky Fingered tomorrow, I will be at work, as it really will be tomorrow......

Well one thing about Aaron is his ability to keep things present and in the now.

Nappies need changing now, hunger is now, sleep is now.... nothing is ever tomorrow, but before I had Aaron lots of things were tomorrow.....

I would start speaking to my Dad tomorrow, I would start speaking to my SIL again tomorrow, I would start taking driving lessons tomorrow.... etc.....

The to-do list of things I was meant to do on maternity are still on tomorrow's list, but where love is concerned, where relationships are concerned... tomorrow became today.

So as a result, Aaron (and I) have a relationship once again with my Dad and with my SIL, and that is beautiful.  He has opened their hearts and that has opened mine.

Aaron I love you.  And so does your Aunt and your Grandfather xxx

Togetherness - The Gallery

Hi

This week's Gallery theme is togetherness.

Click this image to got to Sticky Fingers and find out more:

The picture I am deciding to post is from yesterday.  Aaron and I went "together" to our first ever Mummy and Baby PR event, and we had a wonderful afternoon.  It was at Nobu no less, in Old Park Lane....... oooohhhhhhh ...... yes the food was AMAZING...

Thank you Sterimar.  We will write about you soooooooooon. Oh and one thing that really stood out: I asked "is the idea that we go away and write about the Company?" to which they said "if you want to".  When they saw my confused face, they qualified with "if it is something you'd like to write about...".  I was impressed girls and it makes me want to write about them all the more... I have used the product on Aaron a few times in the last 24 hours and will continue to do so, to get a good idea before I write about it.

Bump - a YEAR ago... and my first Gallery post

Hi,

Well over at Mummy Squared she's posted her bump a year ago...

I thought shall I do it???

Then decided if I can find a photo close to today's date....

well... this is 29th Jan 2010

Well, the whole reason for Mummy Squared's post was The Gallery, so back to that...

I have never participated but here goes.

I have spent ages going through my photos.  I nearly posted photos of bottles - I have three (1) photo of a bottle I expressed to document how little I got :-( (2) photo of all the clean bottles hanging in a row waiting to be sterilised and finally (3) a photo of 3 bottles in a row where Aaron left a few oz each time as he WAS getting some milk from me - hoooorrrah.  So life in the last 7 months has been bottle SHAPED...

But I decided against posting them.... so then I found photos of Aaron trying to climb out of his bouncer chair and what really stands out is the SHAPES on our tiled kitchen floor....  But again... decided against.

So here I am with what I picked... a pretty photo of the Electric Palace Cinema in Harwich... LOTS of beautiful SHAPES there... I personally took the photo on 17th October 2010...
