The worries of a Mum

Hi,

Well today it's cold and there is a dusting of snow outside - heating on constant....

My current motherly worries, (like X Factor, in no particular order):

  1. When do I get a 2nd stage car seat...?
  2. Will I know what to do with weaning...?
  3. Will my already compromised low volume of breast milk cope with weaning...?
  4. Will hubby ever stop annoying me?
  5. Will I get all the housework done before Mum arrives on 9th December?
  6. Will Aaron's cough clear up... that he's had on and off since October?
  7. He was up 3 times in the night last night - when will he sleep through again?
  8. What shall I get him for Xmas?
  9. What do I need to do to help him sit up by himself?
  10. Do I teach / stimulate him enough?
  11. How will I get chance to decorate the spare room into a nursery? Didn't until now as I took the official advice of him rooming in with us in a bedside cot for 6 months.
  12. How will I declutter the study to decorate it in the first place........?
  13. How will I get chance to get outfits for Xmas parties.
  14. Will I manage to get the Xmas decorations up?
  15. When am I going to buy and write xmas cards?
  16. Will I make the last posting day for Ireland?
But what makes up for the above is:
  1. His smile makes me MELT.
  2. He is such a big, healthy, adorable bundle of joy.
  3. He normally only cries when something is wrong.
  4. Having him in the cot next to my bed is such a comfort and a pleasure.
  5. He completes our little family.
  6. I take pride in how much joy my Mum gets from her first Grandson.
  7. I did it! I made a baby!
  8. He loves his toes! He has discovered them and loves touching them and trying to chew them.
  9. His smile when I go to get him out of his cot.
  10. The way he responds to the WORLD with such curiosity.
  11. His chitty chatter gobble-de-gook!
  12. His clothes - I LOVE dressing him.
  13. Bathing him - and seeing him kick and splash.
  14. Seeing how much his Daddy loves him.
  15. Looking through nearly 6 months of stunning photos - you are very photogenic little man!
That's all for now... Here on 2nd December I stop at point 15, but I hope to edit this post in the near future and add some more.

  1. Oh I can so relate with this post, I remember being a new mum and not knowing when I am suppose to do anything, and when you tell someone your thinking of doing something you get contradictory advice. All i say in answer to all the above questions are you are his mum when you feel it's right for the pair of you, it is right.

  2. I love this post, and think you've hit on something much bigger here. I think the reason that the blogging community is so great, is that we all share these worries and joys, they're almost universal, and it's just so nice to be able to write them down and feel as though you're understood by so many others. Also, Aaron is GORGEOUS! x

  3. I think as a first time mum we all have very similar worries and question ourselves and our abilities at being one all the time. I think you must just go with your instincts, after all as mums we know them best xx

  4. Oh I think numbers 4, 7 and 10 *all* the time! And I agree with 7, 10, 12 and 14 - the best rewards!

Thanks for linking up to ShowOff ShowCase! Definitely should have done better

  5. Oh this is lovely - I think all Mummies worry about everything, but you will do it without any problems I promise you and there is so much support for each stage! I want to copy your positives and pin them to my fridge to remind me on a hard day why I am so blessed!

  7. I agree with all the previous comments. This is a great post summing up the fear and joy travel side by side in new motherhood. And the questions! I have so many questions every day x
