Wedding Clothes for a 2 Year Old Boy

I did a tweet today asking whether Aaron should wear a suit to a wedding this Sunday.  The consensus in the MANY and varied helpful replies was no, not for a two year old who'll want to be comfortable and play!

So there husband! Us Mums know best!!!

So off we headed to the shops this afternoon after already having been in the Clarks Factory Shop this morning (see last post).  Yes, a very productive day.  If I told you I got my outfit too, you wouldn't believe me right? But, I did.

Considering I never ever dreamed I could shop with Aaron I am very impressed with our day today.

ALSO got a load of washing out on the line AND back in dry :-)

The stripey shorts are not for the wedding but I could not leave the shop without them :-)

What with his shoes coming from a Factory Store and his clothes coming from TK Maxx, I am very happy with my budget shopping today.

Bargains at the Clarks Factory Shop - London - Seven Sisters Road

We have just got back from a very early start. We got up at 7 a.m. so that Daddy could drive us to the Clarks Factory Shop before his afternoon shift at work.  We did not leave home till 09:30 though but we still got there and back.  For anyone trying to find it, it is on Seven Sisters Road, nearest tube = Finsbury Park bur it is nearer to Holloway, i.e. 10 minute walk.

We got 3 pairs for under £50 so it did not disappoint and at least Aaron will now look smart in Ireland.

2011 and 2012 he has spent 7 months in sandals so I hope he will get good wear out of these too, although March and April are gone (for obvious reasons we survived without them this year).

Anyway here is our haul:

I am very pleased with my purchases, but Daddy didn't manage to put money in the metre due to an error on it, so I had to shop & choose while trying to stop Aaron running around which was very stressful.

Oh and make sure they size you standing up.

Aaron was a size 9 sitting down, but a 10 standing up!!!

When Two Year Olds Take Good Photographs

Errrr I think I spawned a miniature David Bailey!!!!

I took LOTS of photos of the sun today. Newly sprouted daffodils.  Washing on the line.  A never ending blue sky with not a cloud in sight.

I got bored of taking photos that I wasn't in, so I held the camera out at arms length and took a self portrait.  Great if I wanted a close up, but I'd wanted to get the landscape in.

Remembering that Aaron CAN take photos I gave him the camera (Sony Bloggie).

He only took THESE 3.  Not one duff one!

Even in the first you can tell from my mouth, that I am shouting at him to take the photo, not realising that he is doing JUST THAT!

First here is what I was taking by myself. Not bad but no landscape and no blue sky, and that was the case despite me trying EIGHT times... only the facial expressions changed LOL!

Look what my Aaron pulled off - he has SUCH a steady hand:

So for anyone who had their nose to the grindstone today, or for anyone who did not look out the window, it was a GLORIOUS day, and we managed to get two loads of washing on the line AND it did dry!

We only got in at 18:30 JUST as it was getting cold and windy.  Beautiful right up until then though.

So finally today, Tuesday 2nd April 2013, maybe Spring HAS finally arrived. We can but hope :-)

Plus we went swimming :-)

Wot So Funee

So I am joining in with Wot So Funee for the second week in a row.  This may just become a habit...

I have photos AND video to go with what I am going to describe but alas, messy me, has misplaced the USB cable OR Aaron has flung it somewhere, as is his way :-(

So Friday, we were in the pool (we went swimming for two hours) and as Aaron often wathches Jake and the Neverland Pirates, he held his fist up to his eye (like a telescope - which he has never done before) and said:

"harrr harrr
I am cap'ain hook!
Can I have my treasure back!
Please!"

Yes, he really does drop the "t" in Captain.

The please at the end had me laughing till I cried, so so so cute, and I have since managed to capture him doing it on video a few times - will upload when I can find that DAMN cable!

Also, in the same pool, on the same day, the same boy was also funny for a second time.  Remember last week when he decisively told me that I am NOT a Princess? Well this is similarly funny at Mummy's expense.

He was hanging off the railing, that accompanies the steps that go into the Learning Pool, and something about the way he was doing it triggered a memory... (because I can't remember anything before the age of four and Aaron is only two this doesn't often happen)

and I said to him

"ahhhh you are swinging in the water on those railings the way Mummy did when she was little!"

To which he said:

"Mummy was little?"

To which I said

"yes, 40 years ago"

To which he said

"oh dear" 

and just to make certain I understood the sentiment it was followed with

"that's not good".

For some reason, his little wisdom made me howl with laughter.

My little man is far too wise, far too clever, and at least once a day, far too FUNNY.

That's why I love this linky as it is forcing me to record these moments.

Moments I would love to share with him when he is older.

Swim Swim Swim

Our new routine is in its infancy, swimming every Friday with today being week two.

Aaron is asleep on my knee right now. Sadly that means he'll be up all hours, but he fell asleep in the car and I can't bring myself to wake him.

Always having the swim bag packed in the drawer, makes going swimming an easy task.

Bag contains both our cossies, both our hats and his arm bands.

We went to the pool side cafe after for ham and cheese toasties and Tesco shopping on the way home. Despite really penny pinching it still came to £53. Hubby had given me £20, but I couldn't resist £6 for 18 toilet rolls or £8 for 5kg of basmati rice. Also I needed Aaron's milk: £8.50 right there!

I didn't get anything fancy but it is very easy to spend £50...

Anyway back to swimming. We spent 90 minutes in the pool and had a lot of giggles.

It's £4 as under 3s are free. Well worth it. But we've only got 3 months till he is 3 :-(

I'd love to get him lessons. The term starts soon but it's £77 for 14 lessons and I just don't have it.

At this age swimming is so easy as Aaron can stand and wait for me while I change and we have the comfort of a family (large) changing room, although we had to wait for one today, on the way out.

Our pool's within walking distance but last two weeks Daddy's come, but sadly he's never been in the water with Aaron. He watches from the cafe viewing area due to his eczema :-(

Anyway, bye for now (typing with left hand with Aaron on my knee and it's hurting.

Why We Are Not Going Outside to Play in The Snow - UK London Friday 18th January 2013

There isn't a person in the UK right now who doesn't know that it is snowing.

AND it is sticking on the ground!  Even in London.

I have made this collage of our window views.  We can't go out in it as Aaron is very sick.

It was already coming down when we got up so I have no idea when it started.
It's odd as we had snow on Monday which didn't really stick and then it completely went away to the point where yesterday was really sunny with a clear blue sky. With a day like yesterday you wouldn't expect to wake up to this.  It is very pretty when you are inside looking out at it, and don't have to worry about travel restrictions.

A couple of hours ago Aaron's nursery sent a text (he's never gone there on Fridays but they must have sent it to all parents).  It said that parents HAVE to collect children at 15:45 (it's normally 18:00) that they have had severe weather warnings (so are closing early).  I feel sorry for parents who now have to approach their boss to say that they need to leave early.  Yes, some people can work from home, but not everyone.  Maybe some bosses will be totally understanding - here's hoping.

As Aaron has been on medication since Tuesday night (calpol and nurofen) and does not really have an appetite, I am clearly very worried about his nutrition which he needs if he is going to have any chance of fighting this virus, which has seen him with flu symptoms, an eye infection AND an ear infection.

So I resorted this afternoon to JUICING as Aaron LOVES to help me, by feeding the juicer, and he always drinks our creations.

This is made with a WHOLE pineapple and about 5 apples.

It really is YUMMY, and naturally very frothy like a smoothy:

Pimp a Post Sunday - #PAPS - Being Two

This is the second week of Super Amazing Mum hosting the #PAPS.  I love it as it gives us chance to big up a post that we have really enjoyed this week.

Well, the one that truly touched my heart is this post from Not My Year Off about a Mum and her two year old.

With Aaron being two and a half I can really relate.

I need to be a bit more nostalgic and write a post like it myself.

Anyway I won't write anymore as I am currently enjoying being with my two year old and I want you to leave me and go and read that post anyway :-)

Jucing with a Two Year Old is great fun!

We're not yet at the stage where he is drinking it although he had a few TINY sips yesterday but he really really loves helping Mummy to make it.

I have done A LOT of food shopping today and have lots of juicing ingredients that a 2 year old may love, so hopefully I will be making some juices that he will love.

The Importance of Reading to Babies and Toddlers

Aaron owns about 40 books, the majority of them bought by me.

I really want him to enjoy books as I always have done, and I fully understand that they will form the basis of his speech development providing a great source of learning and entertainment.

When we came back from Ireland, both nursery and the inlaws all commented on how Aaron's speech had developed and we were only away for 10 days.

It didn't happen by itself, it was the result of quality time like this.

That loud annoying voice that isn't Aaron's or my Mum's is me - sorry!
