Wot So Funee

We're going through that terrible threes phase (yes 3 not 2!!!) where little one can be defiant, disobedient, determined, deaf when it suits him, and downright annoying!  It is a challenging phase, mixed with alternate highs and lows.  The highs are very very high as at this age they do and say wonderful things, but I find myself shouting more and more often and I don't like it.

Anyway WOT SO FUNEE?

Wot So Funee?

Well..... the other day, at the dining table, Aaron said something very clever cloggs to me (can't even remember what it was as the adrenaline rush that the terrible 3s are giving me are also giving me brain mush) and as I was at the end of my tether, I found myself saying:
"Smart arse!"
I instantly regretted it.  Wished I could take it back.  Predicted the 2 months it would take me to get HIM to now stop saying it.  3 year olds are parrots, but he looked at me, and said:
"s'matoes" [followed by an intense quizzical look as he wondered if he'd got it right]
I laughed for about 10 minutes as it sounded like tomatoes with an S in the front.  It just tickled me, and I guess I was relieved (big style)!

He couldn't understand why I was laughing but he joined in anyway.  As my laugh eventually started to subside, he tried to say it again to get the same reaction, but I was spent.

What have you said that gets repeated?  Are you also going through the terrible (which is sometimes awesome) 3s?

Check out below and join in - this is a blog hop after all!

  1. Phew - mopping brow on your behalf - that was a lucky mistake. L called me a "silly bugger" in front of my dad the other month when we were playing hide & seek. I thought I was going to get grounded by my parents because I couldn't stop giggling!!!! #funee

  3. Oh thank goodness! Although I hope the dinner ladies at school don't mishear him when he asks for smatoes! I'm afraid mine has reached the age where he actually says swear words to see what effect it will have on me. Needless to say, it hasn't been pretty!

  6. Unfortunately my daughter has picked up 'sh*t'. Having told her it wasn't a nice word to use she now says, 'sh*t me, I'm only saying it to myself, I'm not saying to you.'

  8. Oh dear they just pick up everything don't they. Hilarious when this happens, you do just end up laughing. POD is randomly saying "a tit" every now and again but she's not got that from us. She did tell everyone I needed wine the other day though :)
