I use a Moby Wrap

Now onto point 13 from my earlier post.

So...... I have a Moby Wrap and have used it since day one.  At the beginning you simply do the Newborn hug hold, where the legs are in lotus, where his feet are tucked up inside like a little frog.  He used to go to sleep within seconds of me putting him into this.  Or you can do the cradle hold (which I only did once to be honest).  Both of those holds are shown on this You Tube instructions video.

THEN, you move onto the legs out stage... which you do not do at a certain weight, rather... when they start to kick out of the earlier tie.  I was out shopping one day and when he woke up, he was kicking to get out.  I said Mum, when we get home, I need to read the instructions and work out how to tie it, so that his legs are out.  I was so nervous about it BUT it was easy.  The legs out stage is very well demostrated on this You Tube instructions video.  I agree with this lady on two counts (1) I also put the arms and head in when he falls asleep (2) I also can have him in there for 1-2 hours without my back feeling any strain.  Went on a one hour walk and felt like I could do it again.  The Moby Wrap really does distribute the weight all over the body so that no one part takes all the strain - in fact, what strain?!?!?!

You can do so many things around the house while your little one is in there, if they're in a mood where they are demanding to be carried.

Anyway, to brighten up this post, here is a picture of us with our wrap (Newborn hug hold):

Amber teething necklace works

Point 10.  Teething.

So from the last post, I pick point 10 to talk about first...

My friend Siobhan recommended amber teething necklaces after I asked her what was around her daughter's neck...???  She had also had it recommended by a friend.

Well I looked it up on Amazon, purchased it, and haven't looked back.....

Read my review here: Aaron's Mum's review.

They really work and from the day I put it on he has never tugged at it, or even acknowledged that it is there.  He seems entirely at ease with it.  And I am a happy Mum.

Only given him Calpol once since the day he put it on.  And I don't see the red cheeks any more...

He is yet to cut a tooth, but the people I have recommended it to on Netmums have cut several teeth (or rather their babies have) and definitely, the necklace took the stress away...

Bye for now, Liska xxx

Motherhood. What I have learned... Don't believe everything they tell you!

Hi

I can't believe I have not blogged on here since having my baby........

I think I will have to do several posts now to make up for it...

This one is about what I have learned now that I am the mother of a 5 month old... well 5 and a half really...

Don't believe everything they tell you.  Why?  Well because...

  1. They would lead you to believe that you can't start breastfeeding at 6 weeks.  I did.
  2. They would lead you to believe it is hard to combine bottle and breastfeeding.  I did.
  3. They would lead you to believe colic is impossible to get rid of.  I did.
  4. They'd lead you to believe you need a moses basket. I didn't.
  5. They'd lead you to believe that newborns are wrinkly and all look the same. He didn't....
  6. They'd lead you to believe that newborns wear newborn clothes... he did not.
  7. They'd lead you to believe you and your baby would need a dummy (which I prefer you call a pacifier, as that is all that it is)... he did not!
  8. Wean at 4 months! NO...
  9. Dairy formula...? NO!
  10. They'd lead you to believe that teething is inevitable... and is always accompanied by red cheeks, dribbling and a whole lot of pain for Mother and Baby alike.
  11. They'd lead you to believe that vaccines are compulsory...
  12. They'd lead you to believe you have to have a plastic baby bath - sadly I fell for that one...
  13. They'd lead you to believe that a soft wrap is impossible to tie and that you need one of those rucksack type ones - YUK!
  14. Some would lead you to believe that a natural birth is the only way.  It is not...
  15. Some would lead you to believe that breastfeeding is easy.  It is not...
  16. Some would lead you to believe that you should not allow your baby to sleep on your chest.  Not true.
  17. Some would lead you to believe that you have to have an epidural once you have been induced (by drip).  Not true.
  18. I really believe in swaddling.  It really really works.
  19. I really believe in sleeping bags.  They are the next step...
So how do I expand on the above??? I guess I will have to write a post about each point in turn...? Not sure... will work something out... and hopefully add to the above list which right now has 19 points...

Oh and point 20...

20.     They lead you to believe motherhood is easy.  IT IS NOT.  But... it is a pleasure!!!  :-)
