Crying as I Type This - My Today Poem Penned: Naughty Boy

Oh naughty boy naughty boy
where are you?
Right next to you Mama,
stuck like glue.

Oh naughty boy naughty boy
is school where you'll be?
No I'm good for my teachers,
just naughty for thee.

But naughty boy naughty boy,
You're hurting my head
I know Dear Mama,
let's play and have fun instead.

But naughty boy naughty boy
why do I see your worst?
Because Mama I love you
Till my heart's filled to burst.

But naughty boy naughty boy
Don't you know, a good boy's better for all to see
Yes Mama I know that very well,
but you'll love me no matter how I'll be.

But naughty boy naughty boy
I can't love you, I need rest.
Because Dear Mama
I've put it to the test,

But naughty boy naughty boy
What do you mean?
I mean beautiful Mama,
I'm heard AND I'm seen.

I'm here when you wake,
I'm here when you sleep,
I'm here to give cuddles
and smile when you weep.

I might make you tired
I might make you stressed
But we both know for sure
It's me you love best!

My #BigBenefitsRow Poem

Inspired by

You complain about their flat screen TV
Yet how much do YOU spend on your daily coffee?

You complain about their benefit rights
But how much do you spend on Marlboro Lights?

You complain about their trampoline
But how much do you spend on sunscreen?

You complain that they don't speak English
Yet on holiday did you speak Turkish?

You complain they're always wanting more
But have you even heard of the working poor?

You complain about an immigrant invasion
But you do talk about tax evasion?

You moan they send their money back home
Yet your money in Switzerland is there on loan?

You join in the rants about Michael Gove
But I doubt his policies effect High Grove

Some of your big bonus goes to charity
Yet you think food banks are a travesty?

To you this is all just a debate
yet for others their life is at stake!

The inequality between rich and poor
Is something that you just ignore

The trickle down effect will clothe their backs
It's not an issue to worry fat cats

Money to you is just numbers on a screen
You don't even realise that you're mean

Mean to your neighbour mean to your brother
You don't even care about any other

So sit quite still let my words sink in
And think again about your big fat cat grin

Let's fight for all and not for one
Let's have compassion, then we've won!

Lunch Today at Child Friendly Giraffe Cafe Inspired this Poem

We had lunch today at Giraffe Cafe in Belsize Park.  I was so impressed I wrote this poem on my phone on the way home on the train.

***

The Lunch Bunch

You get to Giraffe in the midday sun
Place a yummy order with your Mum

Get a tad bored and your drink arrives
Time to show the Giraffe a few nose dives

When that gets stale the man fetches some drawing
Mummy joins in to ensure it's not boring.

A 3 year old boy soon needs more!
Mummy's worried we'll be shown the door!

The staff are not phazed
They've been here before

Used to handling children
always wanting more!

A balloon's blown up in a matter of seconds
It contains helium so the high ceiling beckons.

Surely off to the roof it will go
But the man hops on a chair, not low.

In fact he's too small so a yank sees our plight
The balloon that we loved has taken flight.

He hops on the chair and the ceiling is nearer
The balloon's back in hand so I can see clearer.

No need to "see red" or have a feeling of dread
When you eat in Giraffe you're just very well fed.

No need to cry or have head in hand
Because Giraffe caters for kiddies like no-one else can!

Homeward bound, happy, full tummy
I'd love to go back soon with my Mummy....

.... please :-)

Living Arrows 1/52 - contains poetry

Because childhood's not forever...

The Soul I Grew - The Boy I Knew
My soul told heaven: I am Mother
Heaven answered: got you, no other.

You came through me, we were one,
But now you're a boy, you are my son.

Although to you I do care,
To the world I must share.

Because you are on loan to me
It doesn't mean you'll forever be.

You are a living arrow flying
Through the universe, trying.

Trying to grow, trying to live
Successfully learning all that I give.

You are a living arrow soaring
To me you'll never ever be boring.

You always show me something new
Something that I never knew.

You always spot the things I don't
I'm too busy, not that I won't.

I give to you, the love I feel,
It's so powerful, so real.

I know you are not mine
You are however simply divine.

But we chose each other,
this time!

Unconditional Love

I'm a child and you're my mother
Don't be looking to any other

Look at me and what I can do
I'll love you back. My love is true

You gave me life, this breath of mine
You gave me promises that I'd be fine

But then you left, you closed the door
Not in England anymore

You walked away at my time of need
And now again you're all I need

Your love was conditional on so many matters
It often left me lost, in tatters

I hope you're now working through it all
I no longer want to be made to feel small

When we're both whole, once again
Maybe, you'll get in touch... I don't know when?

Maybe it'll be soon, maybe tomorrow
There's no longer time for sorrow.

For now, I'll be a Mum instead of a daughter
and focus on the running water

*You know the stuff that flows under the bridge*

The same bridge that would go from here to you
If I got on a plane and to you I flew

For now I will ponder where we went wrong
and hope that it won't be too long

So think of me, while I think of you,
and when we meet again, let it all be new!

Written today 11th December 2013 by Me - Original work!

I read this today: The Bully Too Close to Home by Hands Free Mama.

I started to read it as a Mum, and it spoke to me because yesterday Aaron told me I am always stressed and always angry (I'm not, but obviously it is frequent enough for him to comment).

But on second read, I read it as a daughter.  One who has experienced unconditional love, who wants things to be so very different!

So as you can see, reading that blog post, inspired the poem I wrote straight after.  When I am feeling emotional, a poem only takes me about 10 minutes as it just flows straight out of me, like running water.  I don't write the sort of poems where you sit there chewing a pen, considering the next line - just not me.

Poetry on the way back from #blogfest 2013

I still haven't finished my #blogfest post despite it being live, in beta format (it's the one before this one).

But I wanted to share with you the poetry I wrote on the way home on Saturday, from Kings Cross in London, UK:

The Lie!
Don't you think something's wrong
When the recession's going on too long?

As the towns start to gentrify
Can you see it's all been a lie?

Let's make the building costs go down
Whilst we build for "crown"

No worry 'bout loyalty
Tis about royalty

The man on the street is an ass
He's just working class

Let's divide and rule
For he's only a fool!

He works hard you see
No time to think and be!

What you say he'll swallow
No concern for tomorrow

Let's get bread on the table
However you're able

For some it's steak
For others it's chips they'll make

Energy prices they soar
So we're always wanting more

To eat or heat
Not a simple treat

The pubs they close
Nowhere to discuss our woes

No money for a computer
That way you're muter

Stay at home and suffer
Till it's all over

Then you'll see no democracy
The world rearranged for inequality

So wake up be enlightened
Don't be frightened

Empower each other
Don't be afraid of Big Brother

We're on the brink of new times
It's not a time for rhymes!

I am reaching out to you
To be MORE than the FEW

This is only a ditty
It might not be pretty

It was written in speed
and not for greed

It's the inspired word
That I simply "heard"

In this brain of mine
Words out! Now fine!

I wrote this poem on the way home,
as a result of seeing the new Kings Cross
and the beginnings of a new Tottenham
on the way home from #blogfest 2013

I was only able to afford to go to the
conference
 thanks to my Sponsor:

The poem has a sing song melody, which I want you to hear, but Aaron won't let me record it - I will when he is asleep!

This video, (during the opening and closing slides)
for anyone who does not know/visit London, will show the regeneration (or gentrification) of Kings Cross that is happening:

I did love being IN the building though so I guess
that makes me a hypocrite
- happy to admit that :-(
I am going to try and read up on gentrification now.

I'll add some links to what I find:
http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2006/mar/28/interestingcheesesandgentri http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/revealed-the-gentrification-map-of-london-8808754.html

This will touch your soul:
The cleansing of Hackney
You have to read it (^) if only to get to this paragraph: But Tony had competition. A Kent-based millionaire property developer named Roger Wratten, who had recently snapped up the properties on either side of Tony’s place, had his eye on Francesca’s. An unidentified ‘someone’ informed him that Tony was trying to buy it, and from that point on, all Tony’s attempts to do so were thwarted – paperwork was lost, phone calls went unreturned. For three years, Tony struggled for the simple right to buy his own business. But in February 2003, it was sold, at auction,
to Roger Wratten.

This you tube video about gentrification is interesting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wBpL_iAeOc  I have recorded me reading the poem but ideally would like a rapper to do it:

Prose4T and Pause for Xmas - The Seasons Change

I am hooking up again with Prose For Thought - hashtag #Prose4T

Do not go trick or treating without reading this Trick or Treat poem.

Prose for Thought

Here is my attempt:

The Seasons Change
End of October
Another month over

Christmas is nearly here

Start of the cold snap
The rain goes tap tap

The Autumn leaves rustly and brown

Fireworks banging
Bonfires burning

The hot chocolate tastes real good.

Time for a jacket
Time for some boots

The festive time soon to begin

Let's write to Santa a very long letter
He needs to know what we'd like

Time for my pedals! I've mastered my balance bike!

We don't miss the sunshine
We've new things to discover
Like going on an Autumn trail

The leaves go crunch
The puddles go splash
It's all part of the Autumn fun!

If you look at the seasons
Through a child's eyes
Everything's a delight and a pleasure

Every new discovery
Every golden leaf
A find as precious as treasure

Life is for the Living

Prose for Thought

Life is for the living
Death will soon enough come

Life is for the living
Not a time to feel glum

Life is for the living
I needed a little nudge

Life is for the living
It's not something you can fudge

Life is for the living
A time to feel alive

Life is for the living
We've really got to thrive

Life is for the living
It's best done with our full heart

Life is for the living
So let's all make a start

Life is for the living
Children need us at our best

Life is for the living
Night's the time to rest

Life is for the living
I have said my piece today

Life is for the living
Let the nonsense go away

Life is for the living
Something we all need to consider

Life is for the living
Let's decide what to get ridder

Life is for the living
There are diamonds in the rough

Life is for the living
Let's find 'em when it's tough

Life is for the living
It's true it's what you make it

Life is for the living
Let's nurse it and not break it

I had a good old moan yesterday. Yes it was ME.  I moaned that I wasn't a Britax Mumbassador, that I wasn't invited (nor welcome) to the Drayton Manor screening of the new Thomas film.  It was all a bit woe is me.  But the thing is, both had limited numbers and there are about 6k active Mummy Bloggers, so if I watch every opportunity that passes me by, I will be one unhappy lady, so the above poem was written after getting a nudge from reading Victoria's rather apt post, and mainly because that was yesterday I felt like that, and today, after all, is a new day.

Redundancy

Sitting in my PJs
It's really late at night
I don't know why I stay awake
Getting so close to day light

Late to sleep late to rise
It's become who I am
I ought to make an effort
But I don't give a damn

A part of me that used to work
Was turned off some time last year
The part that was ambitious
For which I could shed a tear

But crying's not within me
I only feel so numb
Why did I give my "all" like that
I really was quite dumb

While all the world got qualified
I ran around a treadmill
And now I don't know what to do
I find myself standing still

I say I want to stay at home
Be the one to hold the baby
But life is passing me right by
And all I feel is lazy

My feet are heavy
My pace is slow
My va va voom has left me
I don't know what will bring me to
The place I know I should be

What is for sure
Is this don't work
This sluggish lazy me

So I need to find
A path to walk
That's where I want to be

I know the route
The journey's end
Yet still I do delay
And every day that
I hang about
The price is dear I pay

For life is for the living
And there's time when I'll be dead
So now's the time to soldier on
And deal with the bits that feel like lead

Somehow I'll find a way to smile
And be the Mum I'm born to
But part of me is in a panic
As I know I'm worn too

By worn I mean I'm tired
Every day is such a struggle
Whenever I get clarity
It's followed by a muddle

The person that I was
I think she has gone missing
The one that's walking in her shoes
Is quiet and silently wishing

Wishing that the day will come
When everything has a meaning
Wondering when that day will be
Until then I'll be dreaming

For now it is the time to sleep
Put down my weary head
Turn off the phone put out the light
And drag myself to bed

The Gallery - Inspirational Women

TheGallery

God took you quick because you were ready
You'd learned all there was to know

Once you'd spent some time with all whom you loved
He knew it was time to go
*
Your time on Earth, it was always precious
Lived life with a vigour that's rare

Your smile's everlasting, your memory alive
Our feelings we've all laid bare
*
We'll all soon be going to an event that you loved
A conference you would not have missed

But don't you worry you won't be forgotten
Your name's already on the list
*
You won't have a name badge nor a goody bag
We won't see you for real on the day

But thanks to computers the ones that you loved
Your image will come alive that way
*
So you see, you'll still be there, in a way
that's as real as the memories that we all share

We'll never forget you or what you taught us
Because we all still care
*
So you'll always be with us, inspired we remain
For you were a shining light

When an angel lives upon this earth
The star that twinkles is BRIGHT!
